Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian have been doing a lot of things as a couple. They’re releasing a new fragrance together, and they’ve recently been doing a lot to support Lamar’s chosen charity, “Cathy’s Kids”.
On February 1st, Lamar Odom’s site announced that the couple had recently launched another eBay auction on their eBay account. 15% of the proceeds from the auction will go to the charity, which seeks to give underprivileged youth “educational tools such as books and computers, mentoring and tutoring services and recreational opportunities”.
While Kardashian seems to be auctioning her wardrobe, Odom has largely been focusing on shoewear, auctioning off a pair of 2006 Nike AF-1 Diamond Toe sneakers for $20, and a gorgeous pair of Mezlan brown dress shoes for $95.
Part of the auction was a Gert-Johan Coetzee dress that the South African designer had given to her, which caused a bit of controversy
in the designer’s native country when it sold for $132. However, it seems Coetzee was excited about the sell
, and delighted that his name is getting out to more people in the States.
In an interview with South African publication Sunday World, the designer said, “”There is nothing wrong with what Khloe is doing. In fact this gives the Gert-Johan Coetzee (GJC) label international exposure. It would’ve been sad if she decided to keep the dress at the back of her closet. Khloe is in the public eye and she can’t be caught recycling clothes.”
Last November Kardashian auctioned an Alexander Wang draped dress, and a Lotta Stenson kaftan.
The original eBay auction had launched back in May. In a post on her site Kardashian announced that she and Odom had opened an eBay page specifically to auction items with proceeds going to the charity, including “clothing items, jewelry, sunglasses, shoes” and “bargains on designer pieces.” These items were from their personal collection.
Odom lists his late mother Cathy as “one of the people who made the biggest difference in his life” and he established the charity in March 2004 to help underprivileged youth.
From his NBA bio
: “The Foundation’s mission is to reach out and give back to young people who may not have role models, mentors, or supplies necessary to succeed in life… [The charity is] also committed to generating funds for continued cancer research, care and clinics as well as education and awareness programs related to cancer, especially for minorities.”
On her site, Kardashian wrote about the charity, “Every time I see [Lamar] working with his charity I fall more and more in love with him. He’s made me a better person and has taught me that anyone can make a difference if you have the desire and the passion to do so.”
The eBay page opens semi-regularly throughout the year. While it is currently sold out, watchful shoppers and those wanting to support their cause should keep one eye open on the couple’s eBay page.
