Raptors 905 Punch Ticket to NBA D-League Finals
The good news keep on piling up for the Toronto Raptors Developmental affiliates.
Hours after 905 Head Coach Jerry Stackhouse was named the NBA D-League Coach of the Year, the 905 completed their two game sweep of the Maine Red Claws, booking their spot in the D-League Finals. With a 103-88 win over their opposition, the 905 continued to take care of their business in the playoffs.
“It’s not about anything else but going out, competing, and trying to finish this off. We talked about this and set goals at the beginning of the season,” Stackhouse said. “Personally, it’s gratifying, absolutely, to understand that you can have a system and a way of doing things that guys accept and have been able to thrive and flourish in.”
The winning hasn’t come without its fair share of adversity either. Just before the playoffs kicked off, the 905 lost Will Sheehey to injury. Then they lost D-League All-Star Alex Toupane to the NBA. Then after round 1, D-League Defensive Player of the Year, Edy Tavares signed a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 905 will now meet the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D-League Finals.
