Celtics Rallies Around Teammate as Thomas Mourns Sister’s Death
No one had a tougher 24-hours than Boston Celtics’ star point guard, Isaiah Thomas.
Just a day before the Celtics were set to defend their home floor in Game 1 of their first round matchup against the Chicago Bulls, Thomas received devastating news. His sister Chyna Thomas passed away in a tragic car accident putting his Game 1 status in question.

Somehow the teary-eyed miniature guard found the courage and strength to play alongside his teammates. With the words “R.I.P. Lil Sis” written across his green sneakers, Thomas rose to the occasion putting up 33-points on 55.6% shooting from the field, adding five boards and six assists to his stat line, albeit in a loss to the Bulls. Behind a strong second half performance from Jimmy Butler, who put up 30 of his own points, the Bulls were able to steal Game 1 by a score of 106-102.
Despite the defeat, our thoughts and prayers go out to Thomas and his family.
