Dwane Casey to Use DeMar DeRozan at Point Guard Spot

First James Harden, now DeMar DeRozan?

Seems like it.

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey came on Sportsnet Fan 590 earlier today to discuss the state of his squad and of all things, he mentioned that he would like to try out DeRozan at the point guard spot.

“We got to have a better mentality of ball movement, man movement and spacing,” said Casey. “DeMar DeRozan, have him handle the ball a bit more as a point guard, a facilitator, a passer. Kyle Lowry moving the ball a bit more, spacing up. We don’t want to give our whole ‘What we’re going to try to do next year’ away, but again it comes down to passing the basketball and better spacing more so, than … one-on-one play.”

DeRozan, who in his time in Toronto has proven to be a very underrated passer will now be trusted with moving the ball around and helping speed up the Raptors pace of play – one of the key issues in the Raptors offensive system. If anything at all, it will give the Raptors another weapon they can try to utilize as they try to close the gap between themselves and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Take that for ISO ball, DeMarre Carroll!
