After 7-Seasons, Tony Allen Leaves Grizzlies for New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans organization has to do everything and anything they can to get people in the seats of the Smoothie King Centre.
After acquiring DeMarcus Cousins, more had to be done as the losing franchise cannot find a way to bring in more fan attraction.
Enter Tony Allen.
A staple of the Memphis Grizzlies for nearly a decade, ‘The Grindfather’ is moving on and has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans after seven successful seasons in Memphis.
On Monday afternoon, news broke as per Shams Charania of The Vertical that the Pelicans and the 36-year old wingman have agreed to a one-year deal.
In his final year with the Grizzlies, Allen averaged 9.1-points and a career-high 5.5-boards per game, while maintaining his status as one of the league’s best and most grittiest defenders.
An NBA Champion with the Boston Celtics, Allen will provide the Pelicans with some much-needed toughness in the upcoming 2017-18 season.
