Ice Cube, BIG3 Facing $250-Million Lawsuit for Poaching Players, Ideas
At the conclusion of the very successful first season of the BIG3, it appears as though it’s not going to be all glitz and glamour for the infamous rapper and actor, Ice Cube.
In fact, Ice Cube may be in very hot water as he is being sued for allegedly pouching players and ideas according to a story broke by New York Daily News’ Shayna Jacobs. The Champions Basketball League has reportedly filed a $250-million lawsuit against the BIG3. The founder of the league, Carl George is claiming that BIG3’s co-founders Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz cheated him out of players and intellectual property.
According to the report, Ice Cube’s BIG3 signed at least 20-players who have previously agreed to play in the CBL, prohibiting them from suiting up elsewhere.
Per court documents:
“When certain players expressed their desire to participate in the CBL games, Mr. Cube confronted the players personally about playing in the CBL and threatened the players that they would be fined, not allowed to participate in the 52 percent of revenues bonus pool, or replaced on their teams.”
After a whirlwind of a first season, it’ll be interesting to monitor this situation as it continues.
