Durant Named GQ Champion of the Year

GQ Dubs Warriors Star Kevin Durant ‘Champion of the Year’

The Accolades keep on coming for the Golden State Warriors superstar.

On Monday, Kevin Durant was named GQ’s Champion of the Year, after leading the Warriors to the 2017 NBA Finals, and helping the Bay Area team raise yet another championship banner, claiming MVP honours in the process.

Overcoming the backlash he has received after his Oklahoma City departure, Durant has endured a lot on his way to claiming the title.

“To have so many people just say, ‘F–k you,’ that really does it to you,” Durant told Jon Steinberg of San Francisco Magazine. “Because I truly had invested everything I had into the people I played for…. And for those people that I know and love and trust to turn their back on me after I was fully invested in them, it was just…more than I could take. I was upset.”

Durant’s interview with GQ is slated to be made public on Thursday.
