Kobe Bryant and LeBron James Return in Infamous NIKE Puppet Ads
On the day that the Los Angeles Lakers were set to retire Kobe Bryant’s jersey, NIKE decided to honour Bryant in a different, yet incredibly special way.
A campaign that started in 2009, NIKE decided to bring back the infamous puppet commercials in preparation for Bryant’s Jersey retirement. Not only did the sneaker-producing giant released one commercial, NIKE produced three different mini-videos to pay respect to what was an incredible 20-year career for ‘The Black Mamba’
In ‘Burden’, Bryant speaks with LeBron James, bragging that both of his numbers will be retired by the Lakers organization, while in ‘Uncle Charlie’ the mystery of which Kobe Bryant was better continues to be questioned.
Lastly, in “Handicrafts”, Bryant speaks to James, attempting to explain the difference between the artsy #8 Kobe and the more entrepreneurial, business like #24 Kobe
No matter which Kobe was better, or which Kobe fans prefer, there is no question that Bryant is one of the greatest of all time, and rightfully so, he was honoured by both NIKE and one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports.
