Is Your New Year’s Resolution to Become Healthier in 2018? Here’s How!

Honestly, what is really stopping you from making a list of new year’s resolutions and just sticking with it?

Are the goals realistic? Are they attainable? Do you have the resources to attain these goals? If yes, then there really is no reason why you cannot get to where you want to be. Staying consistent and not giving up on yourself is key. The amount of work you put in will dictate how much you get out of what you’re striving for. So getting healthier is the goal you set for yourself, then put everything you have into it so when 2019 rolls around, you will look back at this next year with no regrets!

That being said, here are the top five new year’s resolutions for a healthier 2018!

5. Get of the Couch

Nothing, and I mean nothing will ever happen if you keep sitting on the couch.

If becoming healthier is the goal, you must be active. Hit the gym, go out for a run, do not remain sedentary for the majority of the day. Numerous studies have noted that physical inactivity translates into increased risks of coronary heart disease, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and the most obvious one – obesity.

4. Stay Hydrated

No, by staying hydrated I don’t mean to start getting lit. I am also not referring to drinking gallons upon gallons of sugary juices and drinks.

What I am talking about is water – start drinking it.

If me telling you to do it doesn’t convince you enough, maybe this will. Studies have found that drinking adequate levels of water flushes out toxins, improves skin complexion, increases energy while alleviating fatigue, and boosts your immune system. Also, with plenty of water, you will never suffer the same cramps that ailed LeBron James in the NBA Finals a few years back

3. Eliminate the Junk

This one is simply – stop eating junk food.

If your goal is to get healthier, it is impossible for that to happen if you keep snacking on candy, cakes, and ice cream. This is not to say that you cannot cheat once in a while, but if the plan is to lose weight, or to get stronger, and namely to get healthier, cutting out the bad stuff will go a long way!

2. Don’t Just Watch!

I will make the assumption that most if not all of us are NBA and basketball fans.

How about in 2018 we don’t just watch our favourite teams and players ball on the court. Why not, get up and go run some hoops? Doesn’t even have to be basketball, it could be any sport or anything that requires you to be active. Don’t just watch the action, be part of the action!

1. Make a Plan

Last but not least, nothing can be possible unless you make a realistic plan for yourself.

Don’t go into the new year unprepared. Set your goals and formulate a plan that will help you attain your goals. If you workout without a plan, you’re really just working out. With a plan, you are training. Train with a purpose, eat healthy because that aids you in your training and let 2018 be your best year yet!
