Greek Freak, Kevin Durant Lead in Early All-Star Voting Returns
For many years, LeBron James consistently sat atop the All-Star voting ladder in the Eastern Conference.
Why would he not, right?
As the first All-Star voting returned, it seems like King James may very soon be dethroned as a new face stands atop the voting ladder. Milwaukee Bucks’ young superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is leading the NBA in All-Star votes, racking up a whopping 863,416 votes to this point – just under 10,000 more votes than James.
Rounding out the Eastern Conference starters to this point are The Greek Freak, James, fan favourite Joel Embiid, Kyrie Irving, and Toronto Raptors’ own, DeMar DeRozan. Out in the west, Kevin Durant is the leading vote getter. If voting was to end today, he would be joined as starter by Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, James Harden, and his teammate Stephen Curry.
Of course due to a new All-Star format, the voting does not determine the team on which each player will play for as this year, each All-Star team will be designated captains who will then select their teams.
