Buyout Market Taking Shape

How will the 2018 Buyout Market Shape Up?

Joe Johnson, Marco Belinelli, Brandon Wright Sign With New Teams

The buyout market is taking shape and some of the biggest names on the waiver wire are very quickly starting to find new homes as the playoffs are quickly approaching.

Simply put, contenders are aggressively looking to get better with the unofficial second half of the season set to start in a week.

As for the names who have already found new homes? Joe Johnson was bought out by the Sacramento Kings and may have been the most popular player on the waiver wire. He, along with Brandan Wright, are both set to sign with the Houston Rockets. Wright, who has spent the last three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies has been averaging five points and 3.4-rebounds per game. Meanwhile, ‘Iso Joe’, clearly not the player he once was, is averaging 7.3-points per game on the season.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia 76ers claimed the sharpshooting Marco Belinelli, who has been averaging 11.4-points per game while shooting 37.2% from long range.

Aside from these names, guys like Derrick Rose are currently looking for new homes, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Washington Wizards believed to be front runners. The Sacramento Kings are also considering buying out Vince Carter, who may be set to make his return to the Toronto Raptors.

Tony Allen and Shabazz Muhammad are among players that are also available and eager to sign with new NBA teams.

How will this year’s buyout market play out?
