Jazz Rookie Phenom Mitchell to Replace Gordon in NBA Dunk Contest
Aaron Gordon’s attempt to raising the Slam Dunk contest trophy will have to wait at least one more year as the Orlando Magic forward bowed out of this year’s competition due to injury.
Fear not, for All-Star Saturday night’s finale may have only gotten even more exciting.
Gordon’s replacement will be the Utah Jazz rookie phenom Donovan Mitchell. The high-flying and explosive Louisville alum will join a field of fellow rookie Dennis Smith, Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance, and All-Star Victor Oladipo. Gordon, who will sit out with a hip injury has been one of the few bright spots for what has otherwise been yet another disappointing season for the Magic. The 22-year old has been averaging a career high 18.4-points and 8.3-rebounds per game.
And in case there was any doubt about Mitchell’s resume, well…
Something tells me NBA fans will survive!
