Boston Celtics’ All-Star Kyrie Irving Set to Star in Uncle Drew Movie

After gaining commercial notoriety for his role of Uncle Drew in an array of Pepsi commercials, Boston Celtics’ all-star guard Kyrie Irving is going Hollywood.

During NBA All-Star Weekend, the movies first trailer was released and circulated around social media and television. Uncle Drew the movie is set to hit theatres on June 29, 2018. In the movie, a character named Dax convinces Uncle Drew, a former playground legend to join a street ball tournament at Rucker park in Harlem on its 50th anniversary. Uncle Drew surely agrees, but on the condition of building his own team for the tournament.

And with that, the two go off on an adventure to reunite Uncle Drew with his old teammates.

The cast of the comedy film includes former NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, and Chris Webber, former WNBA star Lisa Leslie, as well as former multiple-time Slam Dunk champion Nate Robinson.
