Raptors 905 Lorenzo Brown Named G League MVP, Signs with Raptors
Despite a complete makeover to the roster, the 2017’s NBA G League champion Raptors 905 saw themselves back in the Finals, falling just short of a repeat against the Austin Spurs.
While the days of Norman Powell, Fred VanVleet, Jakob Poeltl, Bruno Caboclo, and Pascal Siakam are over, Head Coach Jerry Stackhouse has been able to sustain a championship-level of play with a brand new set of players. Today, one player in particular was recognized for his high level of play throughout the season.
Guard Lorenzo Brown was named the 2017-18 G League Most Valuable Player, beating out Quinn Cook, who spent time with the Santa Cruz Warriors and is fresh off signing a multi-year deal with the team’s NBA affiliate, and Trey Burke, currently a call-up of the New York Knicks. For the season, the former NC State alum has done everything for the 905, averaging 18.8-points, 8.9-assists, 5.2-rebounds, and 1.8-steals per game, while shooting 46.8-percent from the field.
Finishing the season 31-19, the Raptors went 25-7 with Brown in their lineup.
In recognition of his incredible play on the G League level, the Toronto Raptors rewarded him by announcing that they have signed Brown for the remainder of the season.
