Of course, the Toronto Raptors still have a ways to go to get their respect from Paul Pierce, but at least they’re on the right path.
While the Raptors have become well known for their reputation as playoff chokers, this year, the team has looked completely different, rolling to a franchise-record 59-win season and evolving as both an offensive and defensive unit. Through two games in the postseason against the eight-seed Washington Wizards, nothing has changed to this point as the Raps have squashed their playoff curse and have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead.
The Raptors are zeroed in on rewriting the narrative and acquiring the respect they feel they deserve.

“I think you gotta withstand the test of time, you know?” Said DeRozan in an exclusive interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, alongside teammate Lowry. “You gotta go through them dog days sometimes, to be built even stronger. And I think that’s what we did. You gotta give the credit to the front office, believing. And it’s a testament to us, sticking to our game. And one that continued to get better.”
Locking up their first ever one-seed, the goal for the Raptors is really quite simple – it’s championship or bust and there isn’t any other option.
“Nothing else matters. Yeah, waste of a year for us,” Said an honest Lowry.
As the series shifts to Washington, it will now be up to the Raptors to continue focusing on that goal as they attempt to push the Wizards to the brink of elimination.
