Two Head Coaches Fired as Knicks, Hornets Look Towards Future
Well, that didn’t take long.
Shortly after the NBA season has concluded for some teams, big moves are already being made.
The Charlotte Hornets have fired Head Coach Steve Clifford as they continue to revamp the entire organization. After taking over the role during the 2013-14 season, Clifford led the Hornets to playoff berths in 2014 and 2016, but after each the Hornets suffered very noticeable set-backs.
Out in New York, the Knicks also made a rather big move firing the oft-criticized Jeff Hornacek. After completing yet another trying season at 29-53, the Knicks will now look towards finding a new individual for the job.
“We looked out and we have a plan for what this team should look like over the next three years or so,” Knicks President Steve Mills said. “We just thought this was an opportunity where we thought it was the right time to make a change.”
Potential candidates who are rumoured to get looks this summer are David Fizdale, David Blatt, Jerry Stackhouse, and Mark Jackson.
