TNT Strong Viewership Numbers Correlates with Strong Year for the NBA

TNT’s final NBA regular season numbers came in Thursday, and the results are very strong.

According to Turner Sports, the NBA on TNT delivered its most-watched regular season coverage since 2013-2014, averaging 1.7 million viewers per game telecast. This marks a 13% increase from the 2016-2017 season.

TNT’s performance across all key demographics indicates that the NBA’s popularity is alive and well, and is in no danger of declining any time soon. Viewership among men 18-34, men 18-49, people 18-34 and people 18-49 all experienced growth ranging from 14% to 18%.

Other features of TNT’s NBA programming have been successful as well. Player’s Only’s viewership was up 17% in its second year, with double-digit gains in all key demos.

TNT success has extended to the online world. Kevin Garnett’s Area 21 garnered 18 million video views on Facebook and Twitter, up a staggering 80%. Meanwhile, the social media accounts of the NBA on TNT and NBA TV combined for more than 4 billion social impressions and 1.8 billion video views via Facebook and Twitter.

TNT’s strong finish correlates with an impressive season from the NBA itself, which saw record numbers for attendance:
