LeBron Named NBA 2K19 Cover Athlete

James to be on Cover of 20th Anniversary Edition

Chalk up another accolade for LeBron James.

In the midst of his 8th consecutive Finals appearance, James has been named the cover athlete for the NBA 2k19 20th Anniversary Edition. Lebron previously appeared on the cover of NBA 2k14, as a member of the Miami Heat.

James was ecstatic at the announcement, claiming that NBA is “a game (he’s) played and loved since (he) was a little kid.”

The cover features LeBron in front of a number of phrases chosen by the Cavaliers star himself.

“We were able to do something really unique for the cover that represents everything that drives me and inspires me — from my family to where I come from and words I live by,” James said.

Notably, no team is shown on the cover. This could be due to the uncertainty surrounding James’ future, as he is set to become a free agent in the offseason.

4 of the 5 past NBA 2k cover athletes have changed teams within a year of the game’s release, including LeBron. It would appear that 2K Sports have learned their lesson.
