Marvin Bagley III Signs Largest Rookie Shoe Deal Since Kevin Durant
Super-prospect Marvin Bagley III may not have his first NBA contract yet, but he has already struck gold.
The duke product has reportedly signed to the largest rookie shoe deal since Kevin Durant signed with Nike in 2007. A projected top-five pick, Puma views Bagley as a potential franchise-altering player and have signed him to a five-year deal for it. With the contract, the German shoe brand plans to relaunch its basketball foootwear business to go up against the likes of Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
A long history in basketball, Puma has had the likes of Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier on its roster in the 1960’s and Vince Carter in the early 2000’s. Puma has since taken over the lifestyle line, being endorsed by entertainers and artists of the caliber of Rihanna and Big Sean. Now, it will be up to Bagley to resurrect the company’s place in basketball culture.
The athletic power forward is likely to hear his name called early in next week’s NBA Draft.
