Philadelphia 76ers, GM Bryan Colangelo Decide to Mutually Part Ways
The Bryan Colangelo era in Philadelphia has officially come to an end.
Hired to replace the beloved Sam Hinkie in 2016, Colangelo was caught in a scandal, with rumours circulating that the former Toronto Raptors executive was the owner of five burner twitter accounts with which he spewed unprofessional remarks at his own franchise, the Raptors organization, certain players on the Sixers, and even at Hinkie.
Shortly after, it was reported that Colangelo’s wife, Barbara, may have been involved as well.
The organization brought in a law firm to interrogate the situation, and despite Colangelo initially coming out clean, the two parties decided that it would be best to move on.
“We do not believe Mr. Colangelo established the Twitter accounts or posted content on those accounts. The evidence supports the conclusion Ms. Barbara Bottini, Mr. Colangelo’s wife, established the Twitter accounts and posted content on those accounts.”
With the ‘Process’ temporarily on pause, the Sixers now look towards hiring their next general manager.
