Finals MVP Signs One-Year Deal, Option for Second
In a move that should surprise no one, Kevin Durant will re-sign with the Golden State Warriors, once free agency begins on July 1.
According to ESPN, the deal will pay Durant $30 in the first year, with a $31.5 option for the second year.
Durant finished up a 2-year deal after this season, in which he took a considerable pay cut in order to provide the Warriors with the ability to bring back other free agents. After winning a second consecutive NBA championship, Durant opted out of the contract’s $26.2 3rd year option, allowing him to earn more money next season.
A 9-time all-star and 2-time Finals MVP, Durant averaged 26.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in 2017-18.
