Toronto Raptors Becoming a Potential Trade Destination for Kawhi
While the Philadelphia 76ers are rumoured to be the only Eastern Conference team that Kawhi Leonard is interested in signing an extension with, the Toronto Raptors haven’t given up hope just yet.
According to multiple reports, the Raptors have “generated buzz” at Summer League as a possible trade destination for the disgruntled San Antonio Spurs superstar. Leonard has missed most of last year dealing with a quad injury and has been estranged from his current team – the Spurs.
The Raptors may try and move either Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan in a trade for Kawhi Leonard reports the Washington Post.

With the Raptors window closing, especially considering the trio of Serge Ibaka, DeMar DeRozan, and Kyle Lowry all on the books for two more years, Masai Ujiri may be in win-now mode. With LeBron James moving out west, the pressure for the Raptors to crack the NBA Finals has risen considerably. The Raptors could send one of Kyle Lowry or DeMar DeRozan in a package deal to the Spurs in return for Leonard.
While the 76ers are rumoured to have “consistently remained atop the list of teams expected to land Leonard,” Ujiri is known to have a great relationship with R.C. Buford, the general manager of the Spurs.
As more layers are added in all the drama surrounding Leonard, it must be safe to assume that a trade must be coming at some point this offseason.
