OG Thrives in Larger Role as Raps Advance in Summer League Tourney

Despite coming into the game with an 0-3 record, the Toronto Raptors defeated the Denver Nuggets 85-77 to advance to the next round of the NBA Summer League tournament.

OG Anunoby led the Raptors with 22 points on Wednesday. Anunoby attempted a team-high 17 field goals in 27 minutes, continuing to prove that he can handle an increased load, at least at a lower level.

“We’re doing more things to get him the ball a little more often than he’s used to having it,” noted Raptors head coach Nick Nurse.

“I need to be more of a leader,” OG said after the game, “and I’m working on it right now. I’m used to Kyle and DeMar telling me what to do and helping us get through it, so I’m just trying to help our guys here get through stuff.”

Giddy Potts added 14 points and 4 three-pointers for Toronto, while Chris Boucher shone on the defensive end, blocking 6 shots.

The Raptors move on to the quarter-finals, where they will face Charlotte on Saturday.
