Michele Roberts Re-Elected as Executive Director of NBPA
After excelling in her new role over the past four years, Michele Roberts has been unanimously re-elected to another four-year term as the executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.
Roberts is the first woman to hold the position of head of a major professional sports union in North America.
“She has been nothing short of amazing,” union president and Houston Rockets superstar Chris Paul said on Tuesday.
Roberts assumed the role back in 2014, two years following the instalment of the current CBA. The extension all but affirms that Roberts will play a vital role in negotiating the next CBA.
Her new term is set to end in 2022 and she has confirmed that the union is preparing for what the next CBA will look like.
“Even as you sign the last CBA, you’re preparing for the next one,” Roberts said.
