DeRozan Meant Nothing When he Deleted His Instagram Per Source
The city of Toronto and more specifically, the Toronto Raptors fan base has been dealing with their fair share of buzz the past couple of days – particularly when betting odds favoured the Raptors to land superstar Kawhi Leonard.
That being said, rumours suggested that the Raptors have the most appealing trade chips in a potential trade with the San Antonio Spurs. A trade that would revolve around a young and controllable player, a draft pick, and most likely franchise cornerstone DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan, who has spent all nine of his NBA seasons with the Raptors felt like throwing the Raptors hopefuls a curveball, wiping his Instagram clean at the same time as his name was thrusted into Leonard trade rumours.

While the move initially sparked further speculation that DeRozan will in fact be a centrepiece of a potential trade, a source close to Toronto’s All-Star refuted the notion that DeRozan’s social media cleaning had much to do about anything.
“He deleted his Instagram, nothing else,” said the source.
While Leonard has a year left on his contract, DeRozan, much like Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry has two years remaining on his current deal. A trade would not only allow the Raptors to secure one of the league’s top two-way players as a rental, but if Kawhi opts to not re-sign following the season, the Raptors would clear a ton of salary off the books with DeRozan’s contract moved to the Spurs.
The Raptors window is very quickly closing and if any team is to pull a last ditch effort blockbuster, expect it to be Masai Ujiri.
