Set to Begin, Summer League 2018

Los Angeles Lakers Top Seed as Action Begins Today

After a few preliminary games, the 2018 NBA Summer League tournament begins today, with the Los Angeles Lakers receiving the top seed.

Seeding was determined based on the results of each team’s first three Summer League games. Portland, Phoenix, Denver and Houston round out the top-5 seeds, respectively.

The tournament, taking place at the University of Nevada Las Vegas campus, is a single-elimination format, culminating with the championship game on July 17 on ESPN.

A tournament format should ramp up the competition factor, bringing out the best in the young talent on display in Las Vegas. Notable names to watch include rookies such as Phoenix’s DeAndre Ayton, Orlando’s Mohamed Bamba and Atlanta’s Trae Young.

Other standouts so far include sophomores such as Sacramento’s Justin Jackson, Orlando’s Johnathan Isaac and Atlanta’s John Collins.
