Yao Ming Adds to Lengthy Resume, Graduates from University
One of the greatest big men of the start of the century, Yao Ming did not let career-atering injury slow him down.
The eight-time All-Star and Hall of Famer recently continued to add onto his resume continuing to prove his versatility off the court. Already an important NBA ambassador, Yao now has degree in his office. The 7’6” centre graduated from China’s Shanghai Jiao Tong University on Sunday, receiving a degree in economics. Yao enrolled into the university back in 2011 immediately after his retirement from the NBA.
Yao was 30 when he was forced to move on from basketball due to his extensive injury history.
“At a certain stage in the future, you should try to combine your future with the future of the society, because that’s how you can find larger space for yourself to explore,” he said in a speech at his graduation.
The former Houston Rocket spent nine-seasons in the NBA and averaged 19.0-points and 9.2-assists over that span.
