Sooners Star Blake Griffin Giving Back to his Alma Mater
Blake Griffin is back on campus.
On Saturday, Blake Griffin returned to his Alma Mater as a member of the Detroit Pistons for the dedication of the Griffin Family Performance Center. As a freshman for the University of Oklahoma, Griffin was named the AP Player of the Year in 2009. His latest donation to the school from the All-Star forward was the largest ever from a Sooner basketball player to help with the $7-million center.
Blake’s brother, Taylor Griffin is a former Sooner basketball player who too will be helping with the planning of the new facility. Griffin and his new Pistons team will train at the facility prior to taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder in an October 3rd preseason game.
The state of the art facility includes basketball training courts, a full gym which will include cardiovascular training machines as well as strength training stations.
