Mix of NBAers and Celebs Take the Court at Harden Charity Game

Fans who long for the days when Russell Westbrook and James Harden were teammates got a treat on Sunday.

Joined by a mix of NBA players and rappers, the two California natives teamed up for the 2nd annual JH-Town Charity Basketball Game. The game, taking place at Texas Southern University, was the closing event of Harden’s JH-Town weekend, which also included a softball game and a comedy show. Proceeds from the weekend go towards Harden’s foundation, “3 The Harden Way.”

According to “3 The Harden Way’s” mission statement, the charity aims to “bridge economic and education gaps in the Houston area by providing academic financial support to high-achieving students who demonstrate leadership within communities facing economic hardship.”

As for the game itself, Team Harden won 79-78, prevailing over a team featuring DeMar DeRozan and Tyreke Evans, thanks to a late go-ahead 3 from Gerald Green.

In addition to a team-up of Harden and Westbrook, as well as the aforementioned players, the game also featured rappers 21 Savage, Meek Mill and Travis Scott taking part.
