In Light of Mavs Saga, Adam Silver Asks Teams to Hire More Women
As the Dallas Mavericks saga comes to a close, Adam Silver has made a call for all teams to hire more qualified women, specifically in leadership and supervisory roles.
The NBA commissioner sent out a memo obtained by ESPN at the start of the weekend. The memo also asked teams to review the report released earlier in the week in regards to the Mavericks’ working environment sexual harassment debacle.
“Use this opportunity to make changes and create a dialogue within your organizations about workplace policies, procedures and respectful conduct,” Silver wrote. “Respect and integrity are core NBA values, and we all must work to ensure that they are reflected in the culture and workplaces of our organizations.”
As punishment, Mavs team owner Mark Cuban was asked to donate $10-million to women rights charities this past week.
