Kawhi Leonard Speaks at Much-Anticipated Toronto Raptors Media Day
He spoke, he laughed, he jokes, and now, he’s officially a Toronto Raptor.
On Monday, the Raptors had their official media day and Kawhi Leonard wanted everyone to know, that he is a “fun guy”.
“Obviously I love the game of basketball,” the quiet superstar said, marking the first time he has been heard publicly since he was traded north of the border from the San Antonio Spurs. “Right now I’m feeling great, ready to play basketball. Throughout the summer worked on my body, took it step by step to get ready.”
For Leonard, today marked the beginning of a new chapter in his basketball career.
“He’s a fun guy (when) you get to know him,” Said new Raptor Danny Green of his longtime teammate. “You have to be around him, he’s different in the locker room than he is with you guys but his main focus is basketball; he loves it. He puts the hours in. We’re all expecting big things from him, we’re expecting big things from everybody on this team, myself included.”
Along with the two new Raptors, both Masai Ujiri and new head coach Nick Nurse made appearances in front of the media, as well as franchise cornerstone Kyle Lowry.
The Toronto Raptors will commence their first without DeMar DeRozan in over a decade in just under a month. Things will be different, but it feels like this season is one of the more anticipated years in Raptors history.
And the 2018-19 Raptors are ready for it!
