Kyle Lowry Dodged Masai Ujiri, Nick Nurse Over the Offseason
Things changed after the Raptors shockingly shipped DeMar DeRozan out of town.
Now, as training camp begins and the trade is in the team’s rear view mirror, there remains some controversy. According to reports, leading into the start of camp, sources close to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg suggest that Kyle Lowry has been ignoring texts and calls from team officials, most notably Masai Ujiri and new head coach Nick Nurse.
“I’m here to do my job,” said Lowry on Media Day. “One thing about me is I’ve always been prepared to come in and try to win a championship. I’ve always been given an opportunity to go out there and do me, and come back ready to go, in shape, ready to play. My mindset never changes: Come to work for the Toronto Raptors, try to win a gold ball. That’s the same as it’s been since my first year here. That’s been my sentiment: Trying to win a gold ball here.”
The Raptors are not concerned over the fact that Lowry did not comment on the DeRozan trade, citing that the All-Star point guard rarely, if ever speaks to the media during the offseason.
