The perfect playlist is a good combo of high tempo beats that can carry you through the workout without having to change songs. It is not an easy feat to mesh a masterpiece. If you are a bit of a music jerk like myself you need the most epic songs to really get you going at the gym.
I usually start my workout on the treadmill. I like to get my body moving before I start to focus on weights or specific body parts. For the brisk walk leading up to a run I usually put on songs that build up. A great song to start off your workout with is ‘Going Wrong’ by Armin van Buuren. It slowly escalades to a very upbeat tune. There is no way that the walk will not turn into a run. It provides that boost you need to step it up to high gear.
To keep the running pace steady I usually stick to fast music. Songs like ‘Weekends!!’ by Skrillex are heavy hitters to keep you in the mind set of running. Two of my all time favourite songs to run to are ‘Freaks and Geeks’ by Childish Gambino and ‘POWER’ by Kanye West. If you coordinate the rhythm from the song to the pace of your run it works perfectly, stopping is not an option. You won’t need to. I find it very hard to slow down or stop mid run if you have the right soundtrack to it. It is all about mindset. If the background music keeps it constant there is nothing to worry about, maybe the odd leg cramp or two.
Everything switches up when you change the exercise. Instead of upbeat fast dance songs I listen to rap while lifting weights. There’s something about angry rappers yelling in your ear that makes you go that much harder. The adrenaline starts to kick in. Something about Rick Ross or Machine Gun Kelly tearing it up gets me pumped up. “Chip Off The Block’ by MGK gets me through the last rep of bent over rows every time. The all time best song to do any sort of weight routine to is “The Way I Am’ by Eminem. Everything about the song hits all the right points. He amps you up. If you’re struggling throughout the workout I will guarantee that when this song comes on things will start to turn around. Other great tunes to add in the mix are, ‘Two Words’ by Kanye West and ‘No. 1’ by Rick Ross and Trey Songz with Diddy.
At the end of the day it’s a personal preference as to what goes on the ‘epic gym playlist’. This was just a mere guide as to what tunes would get you more jacked up while working out. The music makes all the difference. It can completely change the mood and increase productivity. The next time you are in a pinch to gather up new music take a quick look at one of my playlists and maybe it’ll just be the trick to get you going.
