The Most Stylish NBA Couples

For basketball players at the pinnacle of NBA fashion, their styles are just as easily defined by what they wear as they are by their better halves. Here are five of the league’s most stylish couples, proving that the best complement to an outfit is having the perfect person to pair it with.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union
Miami’s stylish guard has without a doubt dominated NBA fashion, and his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, is also one of the most well-dressed WAGS out there. The couple’s cachet in the fashion world derives from their massive media appeal, with Wade having been selected as GQ’s best-dressed player of 2006 (long before LeBron James graced the mag’s cover last month), and the actress’ and former fashion model’s presence on television. It also helps that Wade has his own line of menswear accessories. Despite a rocky relationship, the actress and the baller are always eager to pose for selfies to show off one another’s style on Instagram, giving fans almost-daily peaks into their wardrobes.

Nick Young and Iggy Azalea
If GQ can be considered a style kingmaker, then long reign Nick Young and Iggy Azalea. The new couple steamed up the pages of the style magazine’s March 2014 issue. The LA Lakers swingman and Australian pop singer’s Versace-clad shoot highlighted bold prints a-plenty. That’s nothing new for Young, whose controversial sense of style is often at the boundaries of menswear. Likewise, Azalea (who was the face of Levi’s Jeans in 2012 under Wilhelmina Models) is no stranger to pushing the envelope with stage costumes that would make Lady Gaga raise an eyebrow.

Carmelo and La La Anthony
One of the NBA’s most famous power couples, ‘Melo and La La Anthony always dress to impress. Between wearing all black at fashion award appearances and showing just the right amount of upscale casual cool at film premieres, the Knicks’ power forward and the TV personality always seem to complement one another perfectly. The pair’s connection is palpable, making them a pleasure to behold—even in the context of reality TV.

Chris Paul and Jada Crawley

When we think of a clean style game, Chris Paul always tops the list. With a little help from his favourite clothier Ralph Lauren, CP3 spawned collegiate cool in the NBA with a penchant for sportcoats, cardigans and crisp shirts paired with casual jeans and chinos. His better half and college sweetheart—Jada Crawley—has a smart sense of style, favouring simple pieces punctuated with wild prints. Together, they combine modern prep with tangible midwest wholesomeness.

Amar’e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch
Amar’e and his wife Alexis are not only fashion icons in context of the NBA, but also command respect in the world of fashion elites. Stoudemire has co-designed a line with Rachel Row and is often seen lounging in the front rows of fashion week shows. They’re also familiar faces at various fashion magazine awards and launches. Stoudemire’s love of style is spurred on by Welch, whose own wardrobe has garnered the interest of Vogue, the New York Post and other media outlets.
