New Sportswear Lines To Check Out This Summer

When the temperature’s soaring, you’ll be sweating no matter what you wear on the court—but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look good doing it. Here are five of the coolest collections of sportswear that will help you do exactly that. Pun absolutely intended.

Modern and cool: Reigning Champ
Reigning champ continues winning with its newly-released sportswear collection for spring and summer. The brand uses high-performance fabrics to create sweatshirts, shorts, zip jackets and T-shirts that keep the sweat at bay. However, they also give all their clothes a casual twist, making them just as wearable off the court as on with awesome details—case in point: dope camouflage prints and double-layered sweatshorts. The full collection’s available online here.

Give your style game a workout: Topman
Following in the footsteps of fast-fashion forebear H&M, British brand Topman is set to release its first-ever sportswear line May 29. The collection is more geared toward the court or weight room, utilizing performance fabrics such as nylon and dry-tech fabrics made to wick away sweat and keep you cool. There are some basics in there, but in true Topman fashion, the company is dropping many of the workout clothes with trendy prints, contrasting panels and other fashion-forward details.

Basketball by the beach: Alife

What’s better than a game of pickup on Venice Beach? New York’s Alife brand channels a day on the boardwalk with lightweight cottons and athletic jersey materials to give you an unbeatable edge when the temperature soars. Basics such as tank tops, mesh shorts and short-sleeve button-ups are rounded out with beachtime accessories like towels and bucket hats. Although hieroglyphic prints do stand out, you can also grab gear in Alife’s signature black, red and white motif.

Streetwear meets sportswear: Undefeated

Los Angeles brand Undefeated just dropped its new spring 2014 collection editorial, revisiting its athletic roots with street-worthy tanks, shorts and tees. Although they’ll definitely keep you cool, these clothes will be easy to take off the court should the need arise thanks to their simple branded logos and minimalist colour palette. The collection also comes stocked with snapbacks and sweatpants for when you’re kicking it courtside.

Technologically advanced: Nike Sportswear Tech Pack
Mainstay brand Nike Sportswear is teasing us with its new Tech Pack collection, which features style-forward convertible jackets, rain shells, shorts and more in multi-generation fabrics ranging from classic heather grey cottons to the tech fabrics we’re used to from the brand. Aside from sportier neutrals, Nike’s also dropping some 80s-inspired colour palettes and prints on us. According to the teaser, the collection is tailored precisely to the specs of some of the world’s best—and apparently, best-dressed—athletes. Check out the trailer here.
