New York-based artist Shane Griffin was tapped to create this massive sculpture for Nike, currently located in the Cybele Palace plaza in Madrid, Spain. The sculpture features three sneakers protruding from a basketball taller than a man and bears the words “come out in force” below—the tough part being that its design had to work both as a physical sculpture as well as an image for printed promotional material. The kicks that make up the display are all legends in their own right, with the Air Jordan 1, Nike Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer all making the cut. The installation was created in partnership with Rosie Lees London to commemorate Nike’s annual Sneakerball event, which came to an end last week.
