TORONTO, Ont.—Feb. 19, 2015—Canada’s favourite NBA stars and BALLnROLL teamed up for an online charity auction whose success scored more than 90 sets of winter clothing for youth in need.
 During Operation Winter Storm, the basketball and men’s lifestyle publication gave fans the opportunity to bid on basketball gear signed by the Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas, as well as Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Andrew Wiggins. The players personally donated several exciting items toward the cause, from Nike Kobe 9 and Adidas ZX Pro sneakers, to jerseys and T-shirts from the Toronto Raptors.
All the memorabilia sold out, providing enough money to stock up on winter jackets, snow pants, gloves, hats and more for children of all ages across Toronto. BALLnROLL publisher Gad Elmaleh personally handed the garments off to members of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Tuesday. The TDSB’s trained child and youth counselors will now distribute the winter gear to the school kids who need them most.
 “It was a classic case of the community coming together as a team to overcome the odds and make a real difference in the lives of kids who’d otherwise be left in the cold,” said Elmaleh. “We couldn’t have done it without the help of the NBA players who contributed auction items, the TDSB, our donors and, of course, the readers who helped make Operation Winter Storm a win. On behalf of BALLnROLL, thank you to everyone who played a role.”
Local law firm Bergel, Magence LLP Personal Injury Lawyers emerged as the top donors of the auction, with a contribution amounting to roughly two-thirds of the total funds raised. Thank you for being our biggest supporters!
  The auction was inspired by the alarming statistic that roughly one in three Toronto children cannot afford proper winter clothing, and ran from mid-February until Feb. 11 on CharityBids.com. BALLnROLL has previously partnered with several organizations to make a difference in the Toronto community and beyond, including SickKids and Soles4Souls.
 Top donors help raise more than $3,000 in first phase of Operation Winter Storm
TORONTO, Ont.—Feb. 12, 2015—BALLnROLL.com’s Operation Winter Storm was successful in raising more than $3,000 in donations auctioning basketball gear signed by some of Canada’s favourite NBA players. The funds will be used to purchase winter clothing including jackets, toques, gloves and snow pants for youth in need across the GTA. Our most profound thanks go out to our top donors over at Bergel, Magence LLP Personal Injury Lawyers, who single-handedly contributed a total of $2,000 toward the cause. Their law firm has represented accident victims throughout Ontario for more than 40 years, and their service to the community ought to be recognized. The publication would like to thank equally its readers, auction participants and everyone else who helped make this a huge win. Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Andrew Wiggins and Jonas Valanciunas deserve no small amount of gratitude for sending the signed gear our way. Without them, none of this would have ever been possible. But now’s not the time to hit the locker room. Operation Winter Storm is still far from over. With phase one out of the way, BALLnROLL.com will stock up on kids’ winter clothing courtesy of Sears. It will be distributed by the Toronto District School Board, whose child and youth counselors will ensure the garments go to the kids who need them most.
