According to a tweet by Yahoo Sports reporter Marc J. Spears, a source has confirmed that Andrew Wiggins will be named the 2014-15 NBA Rookie of the Year later today. The news comes as a shock to no one. Wiggins was picked number one overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in this past season’s draft, then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a rocky start (he leads the league in games lost), the swingman ended the season averaging 16.9 points per game, 2.1 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He leads his rookie class in scoring and will continue to be a crucial part of Minnesota’s new and, more importantly, young core squad.
