Kanye West’s ‘NBA All-Star’ Birthday Party

So, you think you’ve got an awesome girlfriend? Kim Kardashian, wife of Kanye West, surprised her husband on Monday, his 38th birthday, by renting out the entire Staples Center arena to put on a East vs. West All-Star-style game that would be any basketball fan’s dream. According to TMZ, she dropped roughly $111,000 for the evening of hoops.

Kanye suited up for Team West (obviously). He was joined on the court by the likes of Russell Westbrook, John Wall, James Harden, Matt Barnes. Former NBA player and FOX sports commentator John Salley signed on to announce the game.

Players who couldn’t make it—Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Carmelo Anthony and Scottie Pippen—created videos that were streamed over the jumbotron. Shaq’s featured the former baller freestyle rapping a tribute to Yeezy, complete with a soft diss over at Kobe.

In addition to the arena, Kardashian also hired on real NBA referees to give the game some official flair and the Lakers Girls to cheer for the raft of A-listers on the scene.

Rounding out the rappers roster were 2 Chainz, Pusha T, A-Trak, Travis Scott, Theophilus London and Ray Romulus. Also on hand were fitness guru Harley Pasternak, Kanye’s fashion designer Tracey Mills, Kanye’s barber of two decades Ibn Jasper, and Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo, among others.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without the kid we all love to hate, Justin Bieber. According to the Portland Trail Blazers’ Dorell Wright, who was on the scene, Biebs was in the MVP running alongside rapper Tyga for “definitely” scoring the most points in the game. Bieber reportedly scored a between-the-legs lay-up as well as a baseline jumper.

Happy birthday, Kanye.
