Cavs, Wizards Latest to Make Key Waiver Signings
It’s that time of the year when buyouts occur and players take their bags and run as fast as they can to contending teams.
Once a great star point guard, Deron Williams has come to the Cleveland Cavaliers in hopes of winning a championship and now he and the Cleveland Cavaliers will have some more company. After clearing waivers, the former Philadelphia 76er Andrew Bogut is headed to Cleveland, giving LeBron James an added weapon in the form of rim protection just in time for a playoff run. We all know who the toughest test is for the Cavs and what better way to defend against a three-point assault than with some good old-fashioned rim protection!
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards made a key signing as well, bringing in the recently bought out Brandon Jennings. As a member of the ‘superteam’ known as the New York Knicks, Jennings averaged 8.6-points and 4.9-rebounds, while shooting an abysmal 38% from the field. Hoping to play with a contending team, the Knicks obliged to his wishes and now the former All-Rookie First Team (there has really been nothing else) member gets his chance with the Wiz.
Speaking of the Knicks, there are rumours that Derrick Rose may be bought out as well, so that is a very intriguing story worth monitoring as everything continues to go wrong in ‘The Big Apple’.
In other news, Terrence Jones, is remains one of the bigger names looking for a new team after being bought out by the New Orleans Pelicans and two-time NBA champion Norris Cole has signed a lucrative contract to join the Oklahoma City Thunder.
