Former New Orleans Pelican Drops 81 in Chinese League Game
You may or may not remember this dude, but there is a new star on the Chinese basketball circuit.
Russ Smith, a Louisville-alum and a former New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzly is absolutely tearing things up in China’s second-tier league as part of the Luoyang basketball club. And by tearing it up, I mean Kobe Bryant style dominance.
In five games, the six-foot Smith is averaging an outrageous 61-points, 6.2-rebounds, and 4.4-steals per game, with his lowest scoring total over the stretch being 42-points. In his most recent outing, Smith dropped 81-points on a very efficient 25-of-43 shooting. He also missed only one of his 22-free throws for the night.
Second-tier Chinese League or not, not everyone has forgotten about Mr. Smith!
