Referee Company Cuts Ties With Adidas After 5 Years Over Ball Incident
LaVar Ball just cannot keep his mouth shut and one should wonder if sooner rather than later it will get him into some serious trouble.
Over the weekend, Ball found himself in more controversy. After receiving a technical foul at his son LaMelo’s AAU game, Ball refused to allow the game to continue until the female referee who accessed him the foul was removed. Further reports confirmed that Adidas did in fact have the ref removed as the company has warned referees to not access LaVar any techs during the Summer Championship event, as it could damage their potential relationship with Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard and Lavar’s oldest son, Lonzo.

This did not sit particularly well with the referees, who since the ruling have officially cut ties with Adidas after a five year partnership.
“The events that led to the removal of a female official on Friday are something that shall not and will not be accepted within the officiating community,” Court Club Elite, an organization for developing referees told ESPN in a statement. “Adidas and their leadership acted in a manner that does not parallel our views on integrity or professionalism, and neither should be compromised as they were in this situation.
It was clear that the actions of the official in enforcing and addressing unsporting behavior were defendable and fitting of the behavior displayed; however, the agenda and lack of courage to do the right thing by Adidas leadership sent a clear message that the game and those chosen to protect the integrity were not of priority.”
It is still unknown as to who will be the organization’s next supplier, but one thing is for sure, LaVar Ball is starting to get out of hand.
