Behind Dragic, Slovenia Wins EuroBasket Gold, Spain Takes Bronze
Well who saw this one coming, eh?
While the golden age of Spain seems to be never-ending, Slovenia was able to accomplish the unimaginable. Behind Miami Heat star point guard Goran Dragic, the Slovenians could not be stopped. After a shocking blow out victory over the powerhouse Spaniards, the Slovenians beat Serbia on Sunday in Istanbul, Turkey by a score of 93-85 to win the EuroBasket final.
Dragic finished the contest with 35-points, while receiving support from former NBA player Anthony Randolph who finished with 11-points of his own, as well as Klemen Prepelic who netted 21-points.
Incredible run for Slovenia. Dragic a fighter, Doncic a future star, Randolph an NBA player, Kokoskov a big time coach. Elite role players.

That being said, this game was all about the scorching hot Dragic who averaged over 30-points per game throughout the duration of the Eurobasket tournament. Dragic’s 35-point outburst was also the most points ever scored by a Slovenian in this tournament and to no one’s surprise, Dragic was named MVP.
Goran Dragic is the only player since 1995 to average at least 30 PTS, 5 REBS and 5 AST per 40 min at Eurobasket. Also 52.0 2P% and 38.5 3P%

In his final international game, Dragic made sure the Eurobasket stage will never forget him.

The golden age of Spain may still be ongoing, but at least for this summer, this EuroBasket tournament was all about Dragic and all about the country of Slovenia.
