Russell Westbrook Re-Signs with Thunder on Massive Contract
It seems as though Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder have impressed the reigning league MVP.
With the deadline creeping up, Russell Westbrook has inked a lucrative five-year, $205-million deal with the Thunder. The deal will come into affect during the 2018-19 season. Westbrook is coming off a season in which he became the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double.
“We are extremely fortunate to have an athlete, competitor and person such as Russell wear the Thunder uniform,” Presti said. “To have him cement his legacy as a leader as we enter into our 10th season in Oklahoma City is extraordinary. I am extremely grateful to Russell, his family and to our ownership for the commitment and support that they have demonstrated in supporting our vision for the Thunder.”
With Carmelo Anthony and Paul George now in the mix, the Thunder plan to be contenders this season and beyond. With their franchise centrepiece locked up for the long haul, the idea now is to build a winning franchise around Brodie!
