Brother of Devin Harris Dies in Tragic Car Crash Thursday Morning
It was a somber day around the NBA, specifically the Dallas Mavericks organization.
On Thursday morning, Bruce Harris, the brother of former All-Star and Dallas Mavericks combo-guard Devin Harris passed away from injuries sustained in a car crash. According to police, via the Dallas Morning News, Harris’ car was struck near 2:00am by a 23-year old driver. The impact of the crash caused the disabled vehicle’s gas tank to rupture and catch fire.
Bruce Harris, along with his friend were rushed to the hospital. So to were both the driver and passenger of the other vehicle. Alcohol was not presumed to have been involved in the accident.
Bruce was pronounced dead early Thursday afternoon.
After scoring 10-points and dishing out two-assists in the Mavericks’ season opener to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, Harris was dismissed from the team’s practice on Thursday.
