Erin, Wife of San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich Passes Away
Mid-way through Game 2 of the Indiana Pacers-Cleveland Cavaliers series, tragedy struck the NBA family.
On Wednesday evening, the San Antonio Spurs announced that Erin, the wife of Head Coach Gregg Popovich has passed away. Erin and Gregg were married for 40-years and had two children as well as two grandchildren. Erin was 67 at the time of her passing.
“We mourn the loss of Erin,” General Manager R.C. Buford’s statement read. “She was a strong, wonderful, kind, intelligent woman who provided love, support, and humor to us all.”
As the Golden State Warriors were wrapping up practice, a visibly shaken up Steve Kerr refused to comment on the situation. The NBA on TNT crew offered their condolences to the Popovich family. Gregg, quite possibly the best coach in NBA history and one of the game’s most loving personalities received an outpouring amount of support from around the League.
