Unknown Cavaliers Player Calls Ainge a Thief in Light of Irving Steal
There has never been any debate on whether Danny Ainge is one of the best general managers in the entire NBA.
Spinning unfathomable trades and coming away successful has become just another day in the office for the Celtics GM – robbing teams off assets has become his calling card. Stashing away draft picks, moving team-crippling contracts, and putting together rosters that can play together has allowed Ainge to establish himself as one of the best the game has ever seen.
Ainge’s track record of making one-sided deals includes the Kevin Garnett-Paul Pierce blockbuster, moving two aging superstars with heavy contracts over to a desperate Brooklyn club, acquiring an assortment of draft picks in return. Picks that Ainge has since used on creating a sturdy young core in Boston.
Most recently, Ainge committed another form of robbery when acquiring Kyrie Irving for Isaiah Thomas along with a few other pieces – a package that only a few months later was shipped out of Cleveland.
“Danny Ainge is a (expletive) thief,” said an unnamed Cavaliers player after a regular season loss to the Celtics earlier in the year.
As both Irving and Gordon Hayward continue to rehabilitate from injuries, the Celtics head into Game 3 with a commanding 2-0 lead against the defending Eastern Conference champion Cavaliers.
While their future looks bright as ever, the Celtics have never lost a playoff series after taking the first two games and look poised to advance too yet another NBA Finals.
