Former NBA Slam Dunk Champion Signs on with Lebanese Team
Nate Robinson refuses to limit himself to the BIG3.
The co-captain for Tri-State is reportedly signing a one-year deal with Homenetmen Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League as per Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports. Robinson last played in the NBA during the 2015-16 campaign as a member for the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 34-year old miniature point guard is currently averaging 10.3-points and 2.0-assists through six games of BIG3 action. There is still hope that Robinson could parlay his BIG3 performance into an NBA tryout.
“I don’t think [the NBA] is out of the question,” Said Alvin Gentry, a former coach of Robinson. “He’s such a unique player in what he brings to the table that I don’t think the doors are closed for him at all.”
This is not the first time that Robinson has opted towards playing basketball abroad, as he has made 14 appearances in Israel as well as suited up for 35 games in Venezuela.
