Former League MVP Rose Announces College Scholarship Program

Following up the opening of LeBron James‘ I Promise School, the former NBA MVP Derrick Rose has announced the start of his college scholarship program.

The program will award over $400,000 in tuition money and will focus “on students who are civically minded and demonstrate a willingness to lead,” according to the release, which quoted Rose saying, “I hope to provide students a path to college that was not previously available to them.”

According to Rose, there will be one grand prize winner who will have the opportunity to win up to $200,000 as well as two other winners who could earn up to $20,000 each.

The Minnesota Timberwolves backup point guard is coming off a season in which he averaged 8.4 points and 1.5 assists per game.
