Rich DeVos, the Owner of the Orlando Magic, Passes Away at 92
The Longtime Orlando Magic owner has passed away.
On September 6, Rich DeVos died at the age of 92 after struggling with complications related to an infection. DeVos took over the team back in 1991 after purchasing the organization from Orlando real estate developer William duPont III for $85-million. As per Forbes, the Magic’s value is now estimated at $1.225-billion.
“How can he be all those things? How can he be a good friend? How can he be a religious man? How can he be a successful businessman,” says business man Peter Secchia, a longtime friend of DeVos. “Out of these friendships and work, you get a lot of connections that … want to make things happen. And Rich wanted to make things happen.”
A philanthropist as well as a team owner, DeVos will be fondly remembered in the Orlando area.
